The educational objectives of this department are Care, Concern, Creativity and Collaboration.

Students are expected to be able to:

1. Cultivate students’ professional qualities and abilities in health care.

2. Cultivate students' nursing ethics, respect and care for life.

3. Cultivate students’ self-reflection, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

1. Solid professional foundation courses

Professional basic courses are divided into five categories: basic medicine, basic nursing-related disciplines and nursing core subjects, including internal and external medicine nursing, psychiatric nursing, obstetrics and gynecology nursing, pediatric nursing and community nursing. Advanced professional basic elective courses are also provided.

2. Emphasis on both theory and practice

All professional courses distinguish between professional theory and professional clinical practice internship. The former focuses on the theory and principles of internal and external medicine nursing, psychiatric nursing, obstetrics and gynecology nursing, pediatric nursing and community nursing, the explanation of nursing care concepts and clinical learning and evidence, and the understanding of nursing problems and the theoretical analysis and application of various disciplines; professional clinical practice internships strengthen the application of basic medical and nursing knowledge and the imparting of practical experience. Case discussions are mainly based on Chinese examples, while foreign cases are supplemented by classroom discussions and the provision of videos. In addition, in order to enhance the integration of theory and practice, we use the "Nursing Laboratory Demonstration Ward", "Clinical Skills Center" and "Interactive Teaching Classroom" to seek learning situations that are close to actual conditions. Through simulated patient care situations, students become proficient through practice and examinations, and internships in various subjects begin in the summer of the freshman year to apply theory to practice.

3. Diversified and consistent curriculum design

The first-year courses are mainly basic medical foundations and nursing courses. Professional subjects include Introduction to Nursing, Physical Examination and Assessment, Physical Examination and Assessment Experiment, Basic Nursing, Basic Nursing Internship (I), etc.; the second-year courses are nursing courses including Basic Nursing Internship (II), Internal and External Surgery Nursing (I), Internal and External Surgery Nursing Internship (I), Biostatistics, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Internship, Pediatric Nursing, Pediatric Nursing Internship, Internal and External Surgery Nursing (II), Internal and External Surgery Nursing Internship (II), Psychiatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing Internship, Introduction to Nursing Administration, Community Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing Internship, Comprehensive Clinical Nursing Internship (I), Comprehensive Clinical Nursing Internship (II).

4. Elective courses and majors

The graduation credits for students are 88 credits (including 84 credits of required courses and 4 credits of elective courses). The course lasts three years and can be extended for two years at most. Elective courses related to nursing majors, such as health promotion and health behavior, introduction to counseling, elderly care, nutrition, etc., are mainly for students to choose advanced theoretical courses or practical courses according to their further studies or employment. If they join the program, students are encouraged to participate according to their wishes. For example, the health care program in an aging society benefits students a lot and learns how to care for elderly patients physically, mentally, and spiritually.
